Volunteers: How to Join Us

Several of the Committee’s projects are implemented through a not-for-profit organization – the Switchpoint Institute and are largely undertaken by volunteers.

The key projects being completed by volunteers now are:

  • A Meet & Greet program whereby our volunteers provide information to visitors to the city centre and liaise with businesses to deliver newsletters and seek their opinions and views on matters of interest.
  • A commercial heritage project that is looking at how various commercial sites have changed over time and the businesses that have operated there.
  • Photo and observational surveys on development sites, graffiti and vandalism, which are provided to Council to assist in their planning.

How to join us

The volunteer team is highly valued by the Committee. Members have good fun together while they work and a lot of firm friendships have grown from working together to help make our city better.

More help is needed for:

  • Meet and Greet shifts
  • Program administration
  • Public relations projects
  • Research – historical and current.

If you would like more information call the Volunteer Coordinator at the City Centre office or send in an enquiry on the attached form.
