The Newcastle Visitor Centre operates an extensive site which lists all events happening in Newcastle by current month and into the future. It also has an extensive range of other information, such as accommodation guides, dining information, tours and sightseeing and a host of other information guaranteed to make your visit to Newcastle fun and memorable.
The official site of Newcastle City Council contains a wealth of information about the city and about council and also has an excellent “News & Events” section.
The Civic Precinct, which includes the Civic Theatre, Civic Playhouse, City Hall and Wheeler Place, is the cultural heart of our city. Go to their fantastic website for all you need to know about shows, performances and cultural events happening now and in the future.
A comprehensive news and information website is operated by The Herald, part of the Fairfax Group and Newcastle’s own newspaper. Excellent current news coverage and links to what’s happening with local Sport, Service & Charity Clubs as well as an Event Calendar.
Newcastle L!vesites is a cultural events program taking place in public spaces in the heart of Newcastle. Events are staged at sites including Hunter Street Mall, Civic Park, Wheeler Place, Pacific Park, Honeysuckle Promenade, Harbour Square and Brake Block Park. Each year, L!vesites produces over 100 days of events and provides many days of arts employment. Outdoor performance, installations, concerts, open-air cinema and mass public dance classes - the program is diverse and varies from month to month with events happening constantly all around the city - sometimes in several venues at once! Events are mostly free of charge and include a variety of cultural activities and entertainment to attract a broad range of people. L!vesites' vision is to enliven the city – making it a vibrant, exciting and safe place in which to live, work and play!
The highly-awarded Newcastle Theatre Company has entertained Newcastle audiences for more than 50 years. Their excellent website includes information about all their 2009 productions as well as a history of the company and a lot more.
Newcastle Music Directory hosts an amazing site, which contains just about everything you need to know about performers, venues and shows in Newcastle and on the Central Coast. The site features links to many artists’ home sites, as well as various venues and a host of other fantastic websites.
Arts Hunter offer a website created and maintained by RealTime Publishing, with links to various art and cultural websites.
Culture Hunter has a comprehensive site covering Arts & Culture in the Hunter Valley Region, with links to various sites for detailed information on art galleries, kids events and activities, festivals, libraries, live music, theatre and much more.
Prime Television hosts a site which has links to events and gigs in Newcastle together with details of who is performing where and when.
The University of Newcastle Faculty of Education and Arts School of Drama, Fine Art and Music (incorporating The Conservatorium) regularly holds events to which the public are invited to attend. These include dramatic productions, art exhibitions, music concerts, Masterclasses, workshops, conferences and symposia (to name a few). This website offers links to the programs for these activities.
Performing Arts Newcastle (PAN) is a local community non-profit organisation established in 1997 to assist and nurture artists in the Hunter region. PAN provides assistance and advice for nearly every cultural event held in Newcastle - everything from rock concerts to awards nights. Pan also provides rehearsal rooms and workshop spaces for the major arts festivals held in Newcastle - The Shoot Out Film Festival, This Is Not Art, Newcastle Music Week and more.
Surrounded by beautiful beaches, mountains, and the ocean, the city of Lake Macquarie is located just 10 minutes south Newcastle. This site, hosted by the City of Lake Macquarie, features a ‘Recreation’ section with detailed information about Lake Macquarie’s excellent Art Gallery and Performing Arts Centre
